Shadowing Experiences
Two members of the Youthwork Makes the Boothwork Steering Committee, Olivia Therrien (left) and Tula Roberts-Fishman (right), recently had the unique opportunity to shadow Secretary of State Shenna Bellows at the State House in Augusta, ME. As part of their commitment to civic engagement and youth leadership, Liv and Tula observed firsthand the responsibilities of the Secretary of State, gaining insight into the inner workings of Maine’s democratic process. From attending legislative meetings to discussing the importance of youth involvement in elections, the experience deepened their understanding of public service and inspired them to continue advocating for increased youth participation in government. Their visit reflects the mission of Youthwork Makes the Boothwork: to empower young people to become active and informed participants in our democracy.
